Tesla Door Handle Replacement
TESLA MODEL S Door Handle Won’t Pop Out? Here’s How to Fix It
Many Tesla Model S owners run into a door handle that simply won’t pop out — especially awkward when picking up or dropping off passengers on a busy street, and incredibly frustrating 😭. In most cases, the fault lies with the handle’s drive gear. Metal fatigue causes the gear to crack at its base, so it can no longer transfer power from the motor to the handle. All you hear is the motor running, but the handle never pops out. If this happens, the gear should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent the motor from overheating and failing.
Another common problem is a handle that pops out but the door still won’t open. This is usually caused by a faulty switch sensor wire, which can be resolved simply by replacing the sensor wire.
The Solution
1. Replace the drive gear
2. Replace the switch sensor wire
